Blues is the basic influence for me. So I thought that I ought to record such an album
It was a period that I was listening to the old acoustic bluesmen such as Robert Johnson, Blind Boy Fuller, Bukka White, Charley Patton, Lonnie Johnson, and the early recordings from Muddy Waters, Lightnin' Hopkins and John Lee Hooker. Also a few months before I bought Louisiana Red’s album “No Turn On Red”. I remember that it was the first time that I saw him live and I was so impressed! “Red's Hobo Blues” was the basic influence for recording this album.
So I took my guitars, my mandolin, my handmade lap steel and my flute and I went to the studio. My good friend “Big” Alex who plays the harmonica (he is an excellent bass player also) and Nick who plays the piano on “Gypsy Woman” also came with me .
I know that this album is quite “amateur” but reflects the way that I felt and played that period.
